This study presents an analysis of the effect of window position on the energy performance of residential buildings. In the study, a model was developed using building energy simulation tools, OpenStudio and EnergyPlus. Based on a window-to-wall ratio of 30% and a horizontal 1:2 window layout, variations in heating–cooling loads, solar gains, and total energy consumption were examined across four different orientations and nine different window positions on the building model. The original contribution of this study is the analysis of different window position and orientation scenarios under a fixed window-to-wall ratio. Through this approach, the effects of position and orientation changes on energy performance are selected and analyzed. The obtained findings reveal that window placement plays a quantitatively significant role in terms of energy efficiency during the design process. In the study, the heating–cooling loads, solar gains, and total energy consumption values obtained for different orientations were compared, and the results were evaluated based on percentage differences. In line with the findings, it was determined that the most efficient orientation is the south-facing façade.
